Denis Villeneuve, director of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, directs the remake of of the adaptation of the 1965 sci-fi novel, Dune. When Paul’s kingdom is re-located to a planet to harvest spice, he finds out that there’s a more sinister plot going on. But it’s ok, because he’s “The One” and can control people with his voice. I think . . . I don’t know.

Film Studies 10-15: Free Guy & Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins

Two movies this week. First, Mark checked out Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. It’s a martial arts heavy, family-centric (Fast and Furious style not Disney style) origin story of the Joe known only as Snake Eyes. Then, we both took a look at the Ryan Reynolds action-comedy Free Guy. It’s the story of a video game NPC who tries to something more with his life.

Home Screen – Masters of the Universe: Revelations

Kevin Smith has revived the Masters of the Universe franchise on Netflix. We’ve taken a look at the first five episodes and breakdown the positives and negatives as we saw them. The fans are seriously divided. Some think the show is a great sequel to the original 1980s cartoon. Some think it’s a sign of the coming apocalypse and the evil women with the vaginas of evil are coming to take away their precious nostalgia boners. Well, we found it which it was!

Film Studies 10-13: Summer Catch-up

With so many movies coming out in rapid-fire fashion, we had to jam pack 5 movies into one review. First, Nicholas Cage is a truffle farmer whose pig has been kidnapped. Then, The Purge returns but some people don’t want it to end. From there, we go courts-side with Lebron James in Space Jam 2: A New Legacy. Then, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson team up with Selma Hayek in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. Finally, we end with Netflix’s kick-ass female led Gunpowder Milkshake!
